In the column that opens to the right, click on Library In the left hand column of Finder, click on your user name (with the house icon) The icon for the Finder is usually on the left side of the Dock (default location is at the bottom of the screen) I'm assuming Finder is the icon at the bottom left on the lower bar? As for my name with the house icon, that offers no 'library'. I'm sure it's good on those offering advice, on mine nowhere to be found. Still no explanation where this 'users' is on this actual MacBook. That location is also specifically listed in the tutorial on the user profile you were given a link to. There is a place that gives the location of your user profile. There is no 'Library' in the 'preferences'. What two paths? None were listed in the replies to you. I've followed the two paths offered so far, the first through tools doesn't have an options on the menu, the other through 'preferences' doesn't offer 'library' on the menu. I'm looking for any way to get back to retrieval if the data isn't permanently erased on cancel. To refresh the problem, on restarting the crashed computer it offered retrieval (as normal for unsaved work), but I accidentally clicked cancel, mistaking it for another ID box I normally cancel on Safari.
